CUSTOMER ALERT – PREPARE YOUR HOME FOR WINTER

CUSTOMER ALERT – PREPARE YOUR HOME FOR WINTER

Fall is here, and that means winter is just around the corner! Now is the time to prepare your home and protect your water service lines from freezing temperatures. A few simple steps can help you avoid costly repairs and service interruptions this winter.

For Mobile Home Owners:
• Check your heat tape to make sure it is working properly.
• Inspect all exposed water lines and piping under your home to ensure they are properly insulated.
• Replace or repair damaged insulation or heat tape before freezing temperatures arrive.
• Proper insulation and functioning heat tape can prevent frozen lines and costly damage.

For All Homeowners:
• Locate and inspect your meter lid and service box. If the lid is missing, broken, or not fitting securely, contact the District immediately so the issue can be addressed.
• Ensure any exposed plumbing in crawl spaces or basements is properly insulated.
• Consider allowing a small, steady drip from a faucet during extreme cold to help keep water moving through your pipes.
